Beeldkwaliteit
De Rokid Max levert een indrukwekkende beeldkwaliteit voor zo’n compacte AR-bril. Met een virtueel scherm tot 215 inch (bij 6 meter afstand) en ondersteuning voor 1080p per oog, voelt het alsof je naar een bioscoopscherm kijkt. Kleuren zijn levendig en scherp, al zijn donkere scènes soms wat lastiger te onderscheiden door het beperkte contrast van micro-OLED.
Tracking
De Rokid Max heeft géén inside-out tracking of positional tracking. Het is dus geen volwaardige XR-bril, maar eerder een draagbaar scherm. Voor media-consumptie of basic gebruik in combinatie met een smartphone of gameconsole voldoet het prima.
Comfort
Deze bril scoort hoog op draagcomfort. Met een gewicht van slechts 75 gram en een verstelbare pootconstructie, zit hij prettig — ook bij langere sessies. Let wel: brildragers moeten een clip-on lensadapter gebruiken.
Setup
Aansluiten is simpel: je gebruikt een USB-C naar USB-C kabel (inbegrepen) en je kunt vrijwel direct aan de slag met een compatibel apparaat. Rokid levert ook een optionele “Station” (Android 11) voor standalone gebruik. Werkt plug-and-play met de meeste Android-telefoons, Steam Deck en Nintendo Switch.
Gebruikservaring
Voor onderweg, in het vliegtuig of als second screen is dit een uitstekende AR-bril. Maar verwacht geen VR- of MR-functionaliteit. Geluid is prima dankzij de directionele speakers in de pootjes, en je kunt desgewenst een bluetooth-headset koppelen.
Conclusie
De Rokid Max is ideaal voor mensen die een lichtgewicht, draagbare bioscoop willen. Het is geen headset voor interactieve XR-toepassingen, maar wel een indrukwekkend stukje hardware voor entertainment.
