Pimax Crystal Light (local dimming) Prime Vision with controllers
The Pimax Crystal Light Prime edition is a lighter variant of the popular Pimax Crystal headset.
With the Prime subscription, you pay in two parts. First, you pay an upfront fee, and if you later choose to keep the hardware, you can buy out the license once. This arrangement is handled through Pimax, with the license fee paid directly to Pimax. More information about the Prime fee and current prices for Prime can be found on the official Pimax website via this link. Please note that prices may vary by country.
Where the original Pimax Crystal was a combined PC VR and standalone VR headset, the Pimax Crystal Light is specifically focused on PC VR. This means that the battery at the back of the headset has been removed, making the headset lighter and more compact. In addition, the Pimax Crystal Light only includes a DisplayPort cable that needs to be plugged into the computer. The combination of high resolution (2880 x 2880 pixels per eye) and a wide field of view (about 125 degrees) make the Pimax Crystal Light an excellent choice for use with VR simulation games like Microsoft Flight Simulator and Assetto Corsa.The Pimax Crystal Light comes with 2 Pimax controllers. The headset's tracking works with inside-out tracking cameras. It's possible to use the Crystal headset with external Lighthouse-tracking sensors, but you need to have the Pimax Tracking Faceplate (available separately).
Features of the Pimax Crystal Light
- Sharp 2880 x 2880 resolution per eye;
- Aspheric glass lenses with a large sweet spot;
- 35 PPD for super clear vision;
- Variable refresh rate (60Hz, 72Hz, 90Hz, 120Hz) for smooth gameplay;
- Manually adjustable IPD (58-72mm);
- Foveated rendering: Fixed 2.0;
- Easy installation with inside-out tracking or expand with Lighthouse tracking;
- Audio: interchangeable 3.5mm connection, 2x microphone.
What are the differences between the Pimax Crystal and Pimax Crystal Light?
The Pimax Crystal Light does not contain a Snapdragon XR2 processor and battery. The Light variant can only be used in conjunction with a PC, while the original Pimax Crystal can also be used in a standalone mode. In addition, the Pimax Crystal Light does not have a built-in eye-tracking module (and thus does not have automatic IPD adjustment). The lenses of the Pimax Crystal Light are also not interchangeable. However, the Pimax Crystal Light does contain the necessary onboard hardware to enable a wireless connection with a 60Hz module*.
