Best AR Glasses for Travel
Tested in our own XR space

The XREAL Air 2 Pro is a surprisingly powerful and refined AR glasses aimed at an entirely new category of users: people who want to enjoy a large virtual screen on the go or at the office, without a bulky headset. We extensively tested it in combination with my smartphone, laptop, and even my Steam Deck – and I must say: this is no gimmick, this is seriously useful.

The glasses use micro-OLED displays. The image is sharp, high contrast, and colorful – comparable to an OLED monitor. Thanks to the dimmable electrochromatic lenses (unique to the Pro version), you can also see the image well in bright environments. This is a joy to watch for Netflix, gaming, or productivity on the go.

The Air 2 Pro is primarily intended as a portable screen, not as a spatial AR device with 6DoF tracking. That being said, the positioning of the image works surprisingly well thanks to the built-in gyroscope. In combination with the XREAL Beam or Nebula app, you can stably hang virtual screens in front of you in space – ideal for multitasking.

This is one of the lightest glasses I have ever tested. The temples are flexible and the nose bridge is included in multiple sizes. Even during longer work sessions at the office, it was comfortable, and the open design doesn't make you feel cut off from your surroundings.

The only issue I have encountered, and this applies to all XREAL glasses, is that the software was not directly available on the Google App Store in the Netherlands. This may change in the future. However, I was able to obtain the software from the XREAL Reddit environment where they officially provide support to XREAL customers. The software you find there is available for all countries.
