De bHaptics TactSuit Air is misschien wel een van de meest toegankelijke manieren om haptische feedback écht te ervaren in VR. Waar veel haptische oplossingen zwaar, duur of beperkt compatibel zijn, biedt deze vest juist een lichtgewicht en draadloze ervaring die verrassend goed werkt – zeker voor de prijs.
Wat mij direct opviel is hoe goed het vest geïntegreerd is met populaire games zoals Half-Life: Alyx, Boneworks en Beat Saber. Je voelt letterlijk kogels langs je lichaam suizen, of basdreunen door je borst trillen. Dankzij de 16 haptische motoren over je rug en borst voelt de feedback vol en realistisch, zonder overdreven of irritant te worden. Het vest ondersteunt zowel native game-integraties als audio-to-haptic mapping, wat betekent dat je ook bij games zonder officiële ondersteuning gewoon feedback voelt.
Qua comfort scoort de TactSuit Air hoog. Het vest is beschikbaar in twee kleuren – Onyx (zwart) en Ash (grijs) – en zit licht en ademend. Ook tijdens langere sessies bleef het koel genoeg en had ik geen last van bewegingsbeperking. Je draagt het vest gewoon over een shirt of trui, en dankzij de verstelbare banden kun je het goed afstellen.
De verbinding verloopt via Bluetooth of USB-C (voor PC), en de bHaptics-software werkt stabiel. Koppelen met een Meta Quest 2 of 3 is eenvoudig, en voor PC VR zijn er integraties met SteamVR. Een kleine kanttekening: je moet wél zelf even checken of jouw game compatibel is, want niet alle titels hebben directe ondersteuning.
Voor content creators, gamers en trainers die op zoek zijn naar een extra laag immersie zonder het gewicht of prijskaartje van een volledige TactSuit X, is de Air-versie echt een mooie tussenoplossing.
